Always Remembering
The other day I was talking with a friend about our sons. We talked about how important it was to each of us that people remember them. I think it is one of the life missions of every grieving parent; to ensure that our children are never ever forgotten. In light of that, I thought I would share a few things about Mikael – again!
He was so incredibly funny! Mikael just had a knack for making others laugh. He was never afraid to look silly or make fun of himself either. He was a burst of energy entering a room, like the sun breaking free of the clouds. I know I’m his mom and likely biased but he was very, very handsome – like movie star handsome! Now, you may think this has nothing at all to do with his character but the thing is that he simply didn’t know it. There was no vanity in him.
Mikael had a unique ability to make others feel accepted and welcome. If you were a new comer at a gathering, you could count on him to come and talk to you, ask all about you and truly try to get to know you better. This is a special gift, one I know I certainly don’t have – I feel safer gravitating to people I already know. Mikael was also dynamic and expressive and the term “wear your heart on you sleeve” is quite applicable to him. This, I will admit, he got from his momma! He was also quite sensitive and could sense the feelings of others. He was an encourager! There is so much more I could tell you about Mikael – and I will another day believe me as I make sure that he is always remembered!
