Siblings

Today I want to take a moment to talk about siblings. I often think about the depth of grief that Davis is experiencing with the loss of his brother. The relationship between siblings is such a special one and really quite different from the relationship between parent and child. Siblings become friends and I can safely say that Davis and Mikael were best friends as well as brothers. That bond between brothers and sisters is such a strong connection and siblings often know each other in a way that we don’t necessarily as parents. They definitely know things about each other that parents don’t! The loss of a sibling is such a deep and cutting pain. Missing them lasts a life time. The loss of their presence and all of the things they would have done together is a hole that can’t be filled with anyone else. If you have lost your sibling, I want you to know that your grief matters and is felt and understood and that you are not forgotten.
